Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1-3 and 6-8, Friday, August 9.
Service: A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Monessen, with Fr. Michael Crookston officiating
Interment: Interment will follow in the St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Monessen.
Obituary:
Benedict J. Zajack Sr., 87 of Monessen, went to be with the Lord and join his beloved wife Catherine on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Dunlevy Gardens Assisted Living.
He was born July 12, 1926 in Monessen, a Son of the late Peter and Nellie Gozelnik Zajack.
He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen as well as the Eagles, P.N.A. where he was a life member, and the Fireman's Club #2 all of Monessen.
He worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel , Monessen Plant prior to his retirement and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his children- Vicky and husband John Petrus of Rostraver Twp., Debbie and husband John Mucy of Charleroi, Ben and wife Sandy Zajack Jr. of Belle Vernon, and Tammy and husband George Joseph III of Jefferson Twp.. Grandchildren- Renae and husband Chad Warfield, Jamie and husband Randy Gilbert, Kimi Mucy, Craig Petrus, Jennifer, Kristen, and Monica Joseph. A great grandson- Connor Gilbert and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine E. Baker Zajack and was the last member of his immediate family, having been pre deceased by several brothers and sisters.
