Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 12-3 pm, the time of the Memorial Service. All are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.In lieu of flowers, the Begstedt Family request Memorial Contributions be made to the Monessen City School District, and on your check memo, please write "Daniel Bergstedt Memorial Fund."

Daniel J. "Danny" Bergstedt, 73, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday October 22, 2020 at his residence.Danny was born in Charleroi on December 5, 1946, a son of the late David H. and Lena DeRocco Bergstedt Sr.Danny was Catholic by faith and a member of the Catholic by Faith Church of Monessen. He had also belonged to the French Club, and their Golf League, the National Education Association, Pennsylvnia Education Association, the Intermediate Unit One. Eduction Association, the Pennsylvania Speech and Hearing Association, and had been a former member of the Monessen Elks #773.Danny had graduated Monessen High School with the Class of 1964, and furthered his education at California University of PA on a Baseball Scholarship, earning his Bachaelor and Master's Degree's there. He also received his Supervisory Certification from West Virginia University.Danny was an avid sports fan, especially the Monessen Greyhounds, and Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and Pitt Panthers. Dan had served as a Baseball Coach for Monessen High School. He retired as a Speech and Language Pathologist from the Intermediate Unit One, where he had improved the lives of his colleagues as a Chief Negotiator for Immediate Unit One Education Associate. Surviving are his wife- Roberta "Bert" Caruso Bergstedt, Daughter- Jodi Kirtley of England, Son-Dean and wife Beth Bergstedt of Cannonsburg, Grandchildren- Tyler Kirtley, Gabrielle Bergstedt, Taylor Bergstedt, Olivia Bergstedt, and Devin Beregstedt. A great grandson- Rowen Dizon, and a brother- Bill Bergstedt. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers- David H Bergstedt Jr. and Barry Bergstedt.Danny had a tremendous love of life, was a loyal friend to many, and always brought a smile to those he greeted. He lived life to the fullest with joy and compassion
