Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1-3 and 6-8, Thursday, November 29.
Services: Services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:30am with the Rev. Conrad Auel officiating.
Interment: Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora
Obituary:
Elsie M. Smith Ries, 95 of Perryopolis, formerly of Stockdale, passed away Saturday Nov. 24, 2012 in Generations Elder Care. She was born April 7, 1917 in Monessen, daughter of the late Thomas C. & Mary Catherine Hazlett Smith. Elsie was a member of the First Christian Church of Perryopolis, former member of the Brownsville & Monessen Christian Churches, where she was very active in the Choir, taught Sunday school, vacation bible school leader, Christian Women’s Fellowship leader, and worked in the Perryopolis Church thrift shop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald V. Ries, her twin, Iola “Lu” Barnes, infant granddaughter Kimberly Ries, son in law, Tom Hutchinson, sisters; Margaret Kameron, Thelma Black, Alberta Shetterly, brothers; Albert Smith, and Thomas Donald Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Hutchinson of Perryopolis, sons; Dennis Ries & wife Barbara of Roscoe, and Richard Ries & wife Debi of Waterford MI, grandchildren; Scott Hutchinson & wife Arlene of Perryopolis, Jennifer Rothey & husband Sam of Belle Vernon, Rebecca Comer & husband Dave of Belle Vernon, Erik Ries & wife Jennifer of Waterford MI, and Kevin Ries also of Waterford MI, and five great-grandchildren.
