Eva Mae Snyder Slavonia, 89, of Monessen was reunited with her husband, parents, and as the last living sibling of her brothers and sisters on June 6, 2025.

She was born at home on May 24, 1936 as the fifth child of Alex and Eva Gush Snyder.  A member of St. Leonard Roman Catholic Church, and later the Epiphany of Our Lord Church, she graduated from Monessen High School in 1954.  On May 25, 1963, she married Stephen J. Slavonia, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2023.

Eva Mae worked at Libby's Dairy Bar while in high school, and after graduation as a secretary for the Hibbs Agency in downtown Monessen.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an organization dedicated to culture and community.  Her life was devoted to caring for her mother and husband, and she cared for and babysat many neighborhood children.  The swimming pool at her house was a magnet for friends and neighbors, and her prominent home on Grand Boulevard attracted attention for its holiday decorations.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her older siblings- Brothers Bill and Jack Snyder, sisters Mary Alice Snyder and Grace Snyder, both Nuns in the Order of St. Francis.  Also going to the Lord before her were her sisters in law- Mary B. Snyder and Eleanore Snyder; brothers in law Claude and Dennis Slavonia and Don Reeves; nephew Barry Jo Snyder and nephew in law Rick Rodriguez.

Surviving Eva Mae are sisters in law Cindy Slavonia Reeves, and Patty and Irene Slavonia.  Eva Mae enjoyed the many nieces and nephews; Bill (Rebecca) Snyder, Sandee (Roderick) Lalley, Bob (Maryanne) Snyder, Nancy Snyder Rodriguez, Gwen (John)Karr, Tim Snyder, Kathy Snyder, Keith Snyder, Donnie (Laura) Reeves, and Nick Slavonia, along with great nephews, great nieces, and great great nephews, and great great nieces.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hallsworth House PCH in Monessen and ViaQuest Hospice who took care of Eva Mae and made her days comfortable and peaceful. Her niece Nancy, who was her primary caregiver and flower girl at her wedding, would like to personally acknowledge all the thoughtful persons who made phone calls, sent cards, flowers, food, candy, and scratch offs, which brightened the days of "Auntie Mae" in her final months.
