Frank A. Ruscin Sr.

Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen where friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday September 27th.
Service: A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Monessen with Fr. Michael Crookston officiating.
Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen with Full Military Honors.

Obituary:
Frank A. Ruscin Sr, 94 , of Monessen, passed away peacefully Friday,
September 23, 2016 in his home.
He was born April 24, 1922 in McKeesport PA, Son of the late John and Maria Stecz Ruscin. He was a member of the former St. Leonard Catholic Church of Monessen and presently a member of the Epiphany or Our Lord Catholic Church of Monessen. He worked as a Metallurgist for U.S. Steel, Irvin Works, for 42 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Ruscin honorably served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. with the 1922 Ordnance Co. During the "D Day Invasion", Mr. Ruscin landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy . He was later wounded twice in action and received 2 Purple Hearts. One for wounds sustained in a V-1 Rocket attack at Camp Daring Woods, England and the second in Northen France while under German artillary attack. His tour of duty ended in Castle, Germany. Mr. Ruscin had a deep love of veterans, and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #28 in Monessen, as well as the American Legion Post #___ of McKeesport. He was also a member of the VFW, and a supporter of the USO and DAV. Mr. Ruscin was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #954 of Monessen. Mr. Ruscin was a family man whom enjoyed spending time with his them. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penquins and had enjoyed Boxing. He had bowled in the GAPA Bowling League and enjoyed spending time with his Greek friends, whom were like family to him, from St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church.
Surviving are his daughter- Lynn and husband Paul of Santa Cruz, CA, Son- Richard and wife Sally of Michigan, Son- Frank Jr., formerly of Philadelphia and currently in Monessen, and Daughter- Lisa of San Francisco, CA. His companion of the past 27 yrs., Gladys Lamey and her family, Granddaughters- Natalie and Carol. Great Grandson- Dylan, and cherished Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ruscin and Brothers and sisters- George, Andrew, Edward, Josef, Charles, Helen, Margaret, Dolores, Anna, Mary, and an Infant sister- Helen.
