George "Milky" Milika

Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen where friends will be welcomed on Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m
Service:Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
Interment: Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.
Obituary:
George "Milky" Milika, 86 , of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Westmoreland Manor.
He was born Jiri Melyik, June 12, 1927 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Son of the late John and Helen Melyik. His family immigrated to America when he was four years old and his name was Americanized to Milika.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Monessen, VFW of Shellsburg, and the Monessen American Legion Post #28. "Milky" was also a Licnsed Plumber.
He worked as a Steelworker for Pittsburgh Steel prior to his retirement.
"Milky" enjoyed Bingo, Camping, Travel, working on cars, and fixing things as a handy man.
Surviving are his wife- Carole Randic Milika, whom he was married to for 65 years, two daughters- Lori Milika Lewgood and husband Mickey of Monessen, and Allison Milika Thomas,of Greensburg. His granddaughter, whom he raised as his daughter- Amber Milika,of Monessen and Grandchildren- Michael Lewgood, Kaitlin Thomas, and Michael Thomas. Great grandchildren-Amirra Brewer and Avaya Brewer Several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother- John, two sisters- Anna and Alice, his son- George A. Milika whom was killed in action in Viet Nam, daughter- Karen Milika, and an infant son- John Michael Milika.
