Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be received from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m Sunday March 3rd.
Services: A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:30 at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating.
Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp.
A Parish Rosary will be said on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home followed by a Panachida Service.
Obituary:
Helen M. Burke, 92 of Craven Hill, passed away, Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the Wexford House, Wexford. She was born October 13, 1920 in Monessen, a daughter of the late Stephen and Suzanne Shema Sovich. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen. The Greek Catholic Union. During WWII she worked as a Executive Secretary for U.S. Steel in Monessen, and later had been an Executive Secretary for the Mon Valley Area Agency on Aging. Surviving are three sons-Gregory A. and wife Eileen Burke of Herndon, VA, Joseph T. and wife Alice Burke of Wexford, and James C. and wife Mary Burke of Peters Twp, Six Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren. A brother-Edward Sovich of Ventura, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfons Burke and Brother- William
Sovich and a sister- Irene Sovich.
