Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1-3 and 6-8, Tuesday, June 25.
Service:Services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment: Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
Obituary:
James McGowan, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 in his Monessen home. He was born February 7, 1941 in Fayette City, a son of the late James Duwall and Elizabeth Sethman. James served his country for two years in the United States Army and was with the Airborne Special Forces. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family.
He worked as a Turn Foreman at Wheeling Pittsburrgh Steel, Allenport Plant for 40 years prior to his retirement.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years-, Betty Joyce Povich McGowan, his son- James M. McGowan Sr. and wife Natalie of West Newton, daughter- Jill and Husband Charles Bennett of Monessen, Grandchildren- James M. Jr. and Brian McGowan of Monessen. Maggie McGowan, Madison Bennett., and Amber Todd. A brother- Harry Sethman and wife Nancy. A sister- Melody, and a special aunt- Emma McGowan. Several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by three brothers- Amol,John, and Danny.
