Friends will be received, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022, at Rhome Funeral Home, Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, with the Rev. Conrad Auel officiating. Janet Lee Stevenson, 67, of Monessen, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, peacefully in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born September 13, 1954, in Charleroi, daughter of the late William M. and Rosalie (Robinsky) Salak, who survives. Janet was a 1972 graduate of Monessen Senior High School. She enjoyed gardening, being at the beach, traveling with her husband and family, and most of all cherished her four grandchildren. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon where she previously served on the church council, was active with the children’s outreach program including bible school and breakfast with Santa and held numerous spaghetti dinners as church fundraisers. Janet volunteered and served Meals on Wheels for the Monessen Community.She is survived by her husband Timothy P. Stevenson, of 48 years; daughters Shelly Rhome and husband Matthew of Monessen, Carrie Anderson and husband Brian of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Caitlynn Anderson, Audrey Rhome, Abigail Rhome, and Zachary Anderson; sister Doris Opalinski; brothers Michael and Frank Salak; numerous nieces and nephews, brother in laws and sister in laws; her beloved dog Maddie.
