Viewing:Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd.Monessen where friends will be welcomed from 4-7 pm, Monday, July 6.
Service:A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:00 with Fr. Michael Crookston officiating.
Internment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen.
Obituary:
John A. Gira, 90 , of Monessen, went to reunite with his wife, Margaret Gira, his bride of 67 years, on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born February 28, 1925 in Monessen, a Son of the late Stefan and Barbara Danko Gira. He was a member of Former Most Holy Name of Jesus Church of Monessen, and currently a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen. Mr. Gira was an Army veteran of WWII, having been a Purple Heart recipiant. He belonged to the Slovak Club of Monessen. John enjoyed spending time with
his family. He worked as a Steelworker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, prior to his retirement.
Surviving are his son-John J. and wife Cathy Gira, of Myrtle Beach SC, Daughter- Marjorie and husband Rod Barbee, of Annadale VA, and son- Martin Gira,of Monroeville. Grandchildren- Brian and Chris Gira, Jonathan, Michael, and Tom Barbee, Marcus Nalls, and Nick and Alex Gira. Also, a Great Grandson Hunter and a sister in law- Dr. Catherine Gira. In addition to his wife Margaret, he was preceded in death by a daughter-Nanette Nalls, two sisters- Marion and Dorothy, and three brothers- Steven, Michael, and Joseph.
