Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.

The Mermigas family will welcome friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, the time of service,  at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.

Katherine  Mermigas, 91 , passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 in Premiere Helath Care of Washington.Born in Monessen on February 17, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Argiro Vavaka Mermigas. Ms. Mermigas was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orhodox Church of Monessen, the Church Choir from its inception, and had served as Choir Director.  She was also a member of the Helenic Ladies, Philoptocos Society, was a former Parish Council Member, the St. Spyridon Auxiliary, and active is Church fundraising.  Ms. Mermigas was an accomplished Baker and cake decorator, having won awads for doing so.  She was also a stained glass artist.Ms. Mermigas had been employed as a Secretary for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, prior to her retirement.Surviving are her sisters in law- Mary Mermigas and Smara Mermigas. Her Godson and Nephew- Dr. Michael E. Mermigas, and other nieces and nephews- Marian and husband Tim Chitester, John and wife Stephanie Mermigas, George and wife Christine Mermigas, Gregory Mermigas and companion Steven, and James and wife Judith Mermigas.  Several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers- George "Corky" Mermigas and Theodore Mermigas.
