Lois Jane Parkinson

Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen where friends will be welcomed from 6-8, Saturday, April 30 and 1-3 and 6-8 Sunday.
Services: Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Beallsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial
contributions be made to the United Methodist Church of Monessen, or the charity of ones choice, in Lois' name.
Obituary:
Lois Jane Parkinson Jones, 86, of Monessen, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2016 in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born July 3, 1929 in N. Charleroi a daughter of the late William and Madeline Roberts Parkinson.
Lois graduated Monessen High School with the class of 1947, and graduated California University of Pennsylvania. She was employed for 35 years as an elementary school teacher in the City of Monessen School District. She had retired as the Elementary School Librarian.
Lois enjoyed serving as a committee chairperson for her high school
reunions, and had chaired the annual United Methodist Church "Holly Bazzar." She also enjoyed card games, especially "Bridge", and spending time with her family, and many friends.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of Monessen where she had served as a Trustee, Life Member of Monessen Order of Eastern Star, had served on the Monessen Library Board, Past President of Monessen Jr. Womens Club, and the Retired Teachers Association of PA.
Surviving are her son-Thomas L. Jones of Monessen, three
grandchildren-Matthew and wife Lea Jones Rockville MD, Kathryn and husband Joshua Lazzari of Canonsburg PA, and Nicholas Jones of Glen Burnie MD. A great granddaughter- Eleni Jane Lazzari, two sisters- Mary Gilman of Monessen and Cathy and husband David Keener of Jacksonville FL. A brother in law- Clifford Jones of Monessen and Several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years- R. Lee Jones and three brothers- William (Bill), Thomas, and Harry Parkinson..
