Services: Services will be held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 12 Noon with Fr. Joseph DiStefano officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Monessen
Contributions may be made to the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen or the Humane Society.
Obituary:
Marie J. Francis, 96 , formerly of Monessen, passed away on Sunday,
December 30, 2012 in Longwood At Oakmont. She was born May 28, 1916 in Ney York, New York, Daughter of the late Gus and Anna Gustafson Croussouloudis. At age 3, her mother had passed and she was sent to Chios, Greece to be raised by her paternal aunt. She returned to the United States just prior to the start of World War II. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen. Mrs. Francis also enjoyed gardening and travel, was a great cook, and an animal lover. Surviving are her son- Dr. George J. Francis and wife Susan of Pittsburgh, a sister- Catherine Kanes of Maryland, and a brother- John and wife Pauline Croussouloudis of Monessen. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Francis , a Brother-George Croussouloudis, and A sister- Angeline Kafkalas.
