Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm   6:00 pm - 8:00.Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home , April 3, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating.

Interment will be held in  the Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Washington County Humane Society in Mrs. Ambose's name in lieu of flowers.

 

 

Marla L. Ambrose, 80 , of Fallowfield Twp., passed away unexpectedly at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital, on Tuesday March 29, 2022 surrounded by her family.She  was born  in Charleroi on December 16, 1941,  a daughter of the late Stanley and Laina Yoki Thur. Marla graduated Monessen High School with the class of 1959 and Robert Morris.  During her lifetime, she worked several jobs, including Charleroi Supply, local attorney's offices, JoAnn Fabric, and Rego's Restaurant.  Lutheran by faith, she had been the organist at the former St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Monessen for fifty plus years, and had continued as an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Monongahela.  She was a long time member of the Monessen Chapter #205 of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was an avid seamstress with love of making matching attire for her family.  She enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious apricot squares and banana split cakes.Surviving are her three children- Larry Ambrose, Kristen Franks(Richard), and Tracy Gerard(Jason).  Seven grandchildren-Hailey Whetzel (Nate), Torre Horne (Jake), Jacob Gerard (Kaile), Grant, Trent, and Kirra Gerard, and Courtney Ambrose.  Step grandsons-Richard Franks (Stephanie) and Joshua Franks (Kayla).  Great grandson- Atlas Horne, and five step great grandchildren- Ava, Avery, Liam, Taylor, and Asher.  Also surviving are her brother- Edward Thur (LiWen, sister in law- Patricia McNichol (Ryan) and beloved fur baby "Pepper", and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother- Bobby Thur, Husband- Charles Ambrose, grandson Joshua Evan Gerard, and beloved cousin Betty Frow.
