Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1-3 and 6-8, Thursday, December.
Service: Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen
Obituary:
Paul Theodore Figel Sr., 93 , of Monessen,passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in his residence. He was born Friday, July 13, 1923 in Poland, Son of the late Nikolaay and the late Mary Prodok Figel.
He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was also a Life Member of Monessen Volunteer Fire Department #2, American Legion Post #28 of Monessen. Paul enjoyed Polka Music, Bowling, and Roller Skating. Paul had self taught himself many things, from construction to auto repair. These traights were passed on to his children.. Paul was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen. Paul entered Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, on 1-10-1942 and worked there a a rigger in the Blast Furnace Department until his retirement on 7-9-1985
Surviving are his daughters- Patricia Artim of Thompson, Ohio and Jacquelyn Newman and husband Frank of Charleroi Son- Paul "Fred" Figel and wife Jacquelyn of Monessen. Grandchildren- Keith Artim, Erik Artim, Tracy Amati, Larry Amati, Shannon Amati, and Paul Figel. Great grandchildren- Michael Artim,Tyler Hoffacker, Steven McGee, Michael Amati, Jesse VanPool, Crystal VanPool, Brandi Amati, Gage Amati, Giavonna Pate, Nycere Amati, and Alyssia Williams. A great great grandchild- Arabella Early. Brother- Charles Figel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Figel and Two brothers- Michael and Nikolas Figel and a sister- Anna Josay.
