Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8pm.  A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen with Fr. Michael Crookston officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery of Monessen. 

Phillip Lopresti, 89 passed away Tuesday May 4th from a 7-month long battle with COVID – 19 complications, in his Monessen home of 57 years peacefully in his sleep after receiving a goodnight kiss from his wife of 59 years and 11 months.

Phillip was born in his parents Monessen 3rd Street home, August 12th 1931.  He spent his entire life as a Monessen resident, except for the 4 years he spent in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Koran War.

Phil was a retired machinist from Corning Glass in Charleroi where he had 31 years of service and was a Union President and Grievance-man.  Phil was known for his ability to fix or build just about anything and was an active sportsman his entire life and was always fishing and hunting.  Phil was a well-known trap-shooter in Western PA and was still actively trap-shooting past his 89th birthday.

Phil was preceded in death by an infant son Phillip Anthony, his parents - Anthony and Rose Lopresti, sisters - Jenny Lopresti and Jay Lopresti (Drury) and brother Sam Lopresti
He is survived by his wife Frances Lopresti, Daughters Marse Lopresti-Hammond (Mark Hammond), Lori Lopresti-Morrow (Doug Morrow) – Grandkids – Nate, Ben and Riley. Sons - Phillip Lopresti (Jennifer Lopresti), Frank Lopresti (Holly Lopresti) Grandkids – Gabby, Flip and A.J.

Phil was a member of The Rostraver Sportsman Club, The Charleroi Sportsman Club, Star Junction Fish and Game Club, Monessen VFW, Charleroi American Legion, Corning Retiree’s, A lifetime firefighter with Monessen Hilltop #2, and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church.
