Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen where friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8, Tuesday, July 9
Service:Services will be held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph DiStefano officiating. A Trisagion Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in lieu of flowers.
Obituary:
Robert G. Chan, 74 , of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Westmoreland Manor.
He was born May 3, 1939 in Monessen, a son of the late Michael and Anna Tweardy Chan.
He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen and the Croatian Club. Mr. Chan enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of Pittsburgh Sports- the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
He worked as a Steel Worker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Monessen Plant.
Surviving are his wife- Peggy Vassilakis Chan, two sons- Robert M. Chan of Pittsburgh and Jonas R. Chan of Central City, a brother- Michael and wife Leonie Chan of Monessen, his mother in law-Joan Vassilakis, and sisters in law-Denise and husband Wayne Douglas, Georgia Vassilakis, and Ruth Chan.Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Brother- Leonard Chan.
