Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, where friends will be welcomed on Monday from 6-8 pm. Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm.
Services:
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am, followed by burial at the Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
Obituary:
Robert W. "Smitty" Smith, 62, of Speers passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born in a US Army Hospital in Bad Cannstatt, Germany, the son of the late James W. Smith and Tamara Laun Smith, whom survives and resides in Fallowfield Twp.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Penny Fritz Smith. Loving father of Jonathan A. Smith and Haley and husband John White, and adoring Pappy of Brandy A. Smith, Everly Reese White, and Keira M. White.
Robert was retired from the AUthority of the Boro of Charleroi. He was a past or present member of many Valley social clubs including the Italian Unita Club, Belgium Club, and 10th St. A.C. all of Charleroi. Monessen Eagles Aerie No 2399.
Through the years, Robert had bowled in various leagues and had a love of softball, playing and coaching for the Mint Lounge Softball Team. He loved all sports and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and especially the Steelers. He loved playing cards and trying his luck at the Casino's of Vegas, as well as locally.
Robert was a friend to all and devoted to his family. His smile and sense of humor brightened the world of all who blessed to have known him.
Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers- Jimmy and Carol Smith of Lynnwood and Charles and Debbie Smith of Donora. Sister Olga Smith of Fallowfield Twp. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his father, he was proceeded in death by his sister Jane Hnatik and her husband Frank and sister Tamara McKosky and her husband Gerald.
