Viewing: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Boulevard, Monessen. The family will receive friends in one viewing on November 15, 2013, from 3:00-6:30 p.m.
Service: A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 115 Sixth Street, Monessen, officiated by Rev. Conrad G. Auel, Jr., Saturday November 16, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at Mon Valley Memorial Park.
Memorial donations can be made for Christian missions to the Christian Women’s Fellowship c/o the First Christian Church of Monessen.
Obituary:
Virginia Margaret Spielman James, life resident of Monessen, passed away November 11, 2013 at the Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, PA at the age of 86. She was born January 16, 1927 in Monessen the daughter of the late Nicholas Adam and Wilhelmina (Callaway) Spielman co-owners and operators of Spielman Bottling Works. Her family has been a part of the Monessen community since 1901 when her grandfather the late J. P. Spielman started the family business.
She was a devoted wife and mother and was married 58 years to the late Robert C. James originally from Barnesboro, Pa, but who fondly considered Monessen his home.
A long standing member of the First Christian Church of Monessen, music and the development of children were her passion. She was active in the church choir much of her adult life. She mentored children in the faith through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and summer camp programs. She was active in the church’s women’s group, Christian Women’s Fellowship, as devotion leader and treasurer. She found enjoyment in entertaining church members and family with memorable events.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn James of Monessen, Ginger and Husband A. Byron Clingerman, Grandson Byron J. Clingerman, her Sister Evelyn (Spielman) Potoczny, Nephew Jonathan Potoczny, both of Lexington, NC, an Aunt, Dorothy Spielman Sadler of Warren, OH, multiple maternal and paternal cousins, and several nieces and nephews.
