Visitation will be on Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Monessen from 10:00am to 11:00 am, the time of service, with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating.
Entombment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum of Monessen
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Monessen, or the charity of one’s choice.
Walter Kraynek, 99, passed away peacefully at his Monessen home on November 30, 2021
Born Christmas Day, December 25, 1921, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary Micknivich Kraynek.
Walter was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Monessen.
Walter served his country in the United States Army, 680th Ordnance, 7th Army in World War II. He had served four years in the European Theatre and the Mediterranean/ African Theatre and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Walter retired from Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel after 43 years. He had been a co-owner of the Chateau Lounge of Monessen in the 50's and 60's. He also worked along side his brothers in the construction business and excelled at finish carpentry work.
In his leisure time, Walter enjoyed bowling, a good round of Golf, and travel with his wife of 68 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife- Susan Selcan Kraynek, a son in law- Stephen Tybursky, five brothers- Sam, John Bill, Steve, and Nick Kraynek, as well as, three sisters- Eunice Starinsky, Olga Durant, and Anne Shimborske.
Survivors include a daughter- Susan Kraynek Tybursky, his son- Walter Dennis Kraynek and Nancy Shusta, grandson- Benjamin Tybursky and Jennie Stillman, a great granddaughter-- Fiona Tybursky. Also surviving are numerous loving and supporting nieces and nephews.
