Services: A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 followed by
Funeral Services at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic at 11:00, Saturday, May 5,
2012 with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating.
Obituary:
Irene M. Skoczlas, 84 of Monessen, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in
Donnell House of Washington Pa
She was born December 12, 1927 in Monessen, a daughter of the late Wasyl
and Mary Klipnick Zubritsky.
Irene was a 1945 graduate of Monessen High School, where she was a
majorette.
She worked as a cashier for A&P Market of Monessen, Shop N Save of
Elizabeth, and the Monessen Giant Eagle
Irene was a dedicated and active member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic
Church of Monessen as well as the Ladies Guilde, Rosary Society, CCD
Teacher, Ladies Choir. She also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul, and Mt.
St. Macrina in the Sister House. She was also active in many other Church
functions including baking, cleaning, serving on various committees, and
prayer teams.
Irene's strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, kept her positive
and encouraged during her battle with lung cancer. She continually prayed
to Jesus for her family and friends, all those in need, and kept her doctors
and nurses in her daily devotions as well. Her family is deeply gracious to
those who sent Irene cards, prayers, and kept her in their thoughts.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years-, Henry A. Skoczlas, A daughter-
Karen Vaughn of Cleveland , OH, Three sons- Kenneth A.and wife Angela
Skoczlas of Ft. Worth, TX, Gregory C. and wife Ingrid Skoczlas of Arlington,
TX, James N. and wife Jennifer Skoczlas of Bridgeville, PA, .Twelve
Grandchildren- Holly, Michael and wife Andrea, Lori and husband Chris, Lisa
and husband Jonathan Billeck, Jessica and husband Dr. Jason Tomsic, Douglas
Mariotti, Cameron, Logan, Jensen, and Emary Skoczlas, and Rachel and Emilly
Skoczlas. Six Great Grandchildren.A brother- Melvin and wife Ethel
Zubritsky of Monessen. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by Brothers- Michael, Charles, John, and Alex
Zubritsky, a sister- Kathryn Fordanich, and three nephews- Melvin, David,
and Thomas Zubritsky .
