Obituary

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm; 6:00pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating.

Interment will follow in the Addison Cementary.

Contributions may be made to the Fayette Friends of Animal of Uniontown in Mrs. McLaughlin's name.

Betty J. McLaughlin, 92, of Monessen, passed away on Tuesday February 18, 2025 in Hallsworth House of Monessen.

She was born in Monessen on January 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Richard L. and Virginia Wright Tressler.

Betty had worked as a clerk for Hills Department Store in Belle Vernon for many years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen and the Monessen Senior Center. She greatly enjoyed her cats.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Smitley and husband Jesse of Charleroi. Her four grandchildren-Dakota Smitley, Samantha Smitley and husband Nicholas Yuvan, Jesse Smitley and Dalton Smitley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James McLaughlin, and sister Shirley Tressler.
