Viewing/Services: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted tothe Rhome Funeral Home Inc., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen where friends will be welcomed from 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 28.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the Savarino family.
Obituary:
Joseph J. Savarino, 79 passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born and raised in Monessen, a son of the late Mariano and Katherine Germock Savarino.
He was a graduate of Monessen High School with the class of 1954, and had served his country in the United States Army being discharged honarably as a Specialist 4. He worked as a Welder for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel at Monessen and Stuebenville prior to Joseph was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen.
He married Delaine D. Destefano on May 2, 1964. They have two children-Joseph J. Savarino Jr of Monessen, and JoLaine J. and husband Rob Ross of Ashburn, VA. Two grandchildren- Robert N. Ross IIIand Emmelina H. Ross also survive, as well as two brothers in law and several nieces and nephew. His favorite pasttime was when he hugged and played with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters-
Marianna Maiolini and Connie Magatz and his in laws- Frank J. and Kathryn Zoretich Destefano.
