Mary Ann Ralston(Kuhar)

Obituary:

On January 8, 2014, private funeral services were held for Mary Ann Ralston (Kuhar), who passed away on January 1, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, OH.   These services included Holy Mass at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, PA. and burial at Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen, PA.   Mary was born on February 2, 1934, at Monessen to August and Anna (Seykoski) Kuhar, who preceded her in death. On February 2, 1955, she was married to her high school sweetheart, James Anan Ralston, who passed away on July 8, 1996.   They had no children.  Mary attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Monessen High School, where she exerted herself to be a honor student, head cheer leader and girlfriend of her future husband.   She attended Douglas School of Business, where she learned secretarial skills and put them to use as a secretary initially with the PA Army National Guard and later with a civil service career with the Atomic Energy Commission.   In the community, Mary was an active member of the Monessen Meals on Wheels,  Friends of the Monessen Public Library,Monessen Croatian Social and Educational Society, Mon Valley Slovak Cultural Societyand Mon Valley Hospital Auxiliary.   She was survived by her brothers, Michael (Carolyn) Kuhar, their three children and seven grandchildren, of Toledo, OH and Richard (Rebecca) Kuhar, and their two children and three grandchildren, of Copley, OH,and by aunts and cousins.   Despite some disappointments, Mary enjoyed life with her many hometown friends and she was prepared to meet the Lord with spiritual uplifts through personal home visits, letters and telephone calls from retired priest Lawrence Hoppi.   Mary experienced no pain from her medications and treatment for pancreatic cancer, voiced that she was ready to accept the call of eternal rest, but was sorry that she did not have the energy to answer the over 200 notes, cards and letters of support that she received since residing at Toledo, OH, for the last seven months of her life.   Those wishing to donate a memorial in Mary’s name can select one of choice by donor.   Please honor her memory with your good deeds and prayers.
